With regard to its research agenda, the ETC will apply the following key components of research and training on human security:
- Set up a human security team at the ETC.
- Review of existing literature and ongoing research.
- Link up with institutions and experts on relevant issues.
- Improve our ETC Human Security Homepage in terms of quality and quantity.
- Establish the online-journal “Human Security Perspectives”.
- Set up a Jour Fixe for the members of the ETC human security team to the purpose of discussing and developing the ETC human security focus.
- Invite national and international experts in the field of human security to gain feedback for our work.
- Publish occasional papers, reports, and studies.
- Substantiate our training programs with results from our research activities.
- Establish and further develop human security training activities and initiatives, such as courses, lecture series, seminars, and summer schools.
- Make the ETC Summer Academy on Human Rights and Human Security a regular international training programme.
- Develop human security and human rights training curricula to be used by the ETC and partner institutions all over the globe.
- Intensify the partnership with the University of Graz in order to build a human security cluster, incorporating diploma and doctoral theses on human security issues.
- Strengthen the partnership with the City of Graz and Cities of South East Europe to develop the research agenda of the relevance of the local level for human security.
- Set up a strategic alliance with international organizations, like the Human Security Branch in the UN Office on Drugs and Crime based in Vienna.
- Support the activities of the Austrian Foreign Ministry in the framework of the Human Security Network.
